Augusta Beatrix Bingrellstein II is a Solithian noble and aspiring paladin.
Appearance & Personality
Augusta is a teenage girl with blue eyes and reddish-brown hair, most of which she wears down, with some being pulled into twintails at the sides. During her first few appearances she wore regular fine clothes, as typical of a young noble.
After being transformed into an angel and becoming one of Mira's paladins, she begins wearing her own version of the Solithian paladin uniform. This includes a cropped silver cuirass and long pale blue cape, similar to those worn by Bingus, worn over a long dress or gambeson, which is reinforced with plate mail at her sides. She also wears a belt, plated boots with decorative wings on the heels, vambraces, and a pauldron engraved with Mira's symbol on one shoulder. Her undershirt and pants are black, along with a black armband, which denotes her being in mourning. She also has a pair of golden wings, which she can dismiss and summon at will.
Prior to her brother's death, Augusta had a friendly and optimistic outlook, though she also possessed a competitive streak. Though she immediately challenged Appel to a duel upon meeting him, she was not upset by how quickly she lost, instead expressing intense admiration for Appel, and reaffirming her determination to train as a paladin as well. She also seemed to have a love for excitement, showing no hesitation about joining the party in running from the city guard.
After the death of Bingus, Augusta became much more violent and angry, as shown by her killing multiple party members in order to get to Appel.
Story
Kingsglade Arc
The party first encountered Augusta shortly after arriving at Kingsglade's Castle Library, when she barged in and demanded to duel Appel. After Appel easily defeated her, she declared that he had proved his loyalty to Solithia, and that she would challenge him to a rematch after becoming a paladin herself. Before running off again, she also randomly came out as bisexual.
Later on, as the party was being chased through the streets of Kingsglade by Solithian guards, Augusta appeared and asked them what was going on. In a panic, Appel lied about being sent on a mission by Bingus, but to his surprise Augusta replied that Bingus had already sent her a letter explaining the situation. She then ran off to try and distract the pursuing guards, helping the party to finally escape the city.
Sha Arc
While in Sha, the party used Mimi's door to travel back to Kingsglade, where June then attempted to teleport them into the castle. Due to a malfunction in the teleportation spell, the party was split up, and Anari, Appel, and Nora ended up in Augusta's room. Upon their arrival, Augusta accused Appel of forging the letter from Bingus, and said that she had been grounded as punishment for helping him. After finally getting the chance to examine the letter, Appel realized it had been sent by Rhea Lwomyn. Despite now knowing Appel was a wanted man, Augusta decided not to report him to the authorities, because she still wanted to get strong enough to defeat him herself.
Nova Arc
During the party at the Nova Cathedral, Appel briefly spotted Augusta dancing with her brother, but decided to avoid her.
Attack in Mistport
After fighting their way through several waves of enemies seeking revenge, the party found Augusta waiting for them at the end of Mistport's docks. She revealed that she had finally become a paladin, as well as being transformed into an angel, and had come to get revenge for her brother's death, believing that he had been killed by Appel. Although Appel attempted to reason with her, she ignored him, and demanded he return the Bingrellstein family sword to her, which he did. During the fight, she managed to down the entire party, aside from the fleeing Mila. After downing Appel, she seemed ready to finish him off, but then suffered some sort of aftereffect of using her new powers and was forced to retreat.
Trivia
- Augusta's bisexuality is a reference to Milo's Google Form that asked whether or not Bingus should be bisexual. A response claiming to be from "Ix (real)" said that he would come out in Session 14, which coincidentally turned out to be right after Augusta's introduction.
- Augusta is one of the only characters to regularly refer to Appel as "Sir Michael". This was one of the first major hints of Rhea's forged letter: Appel rarely uses his given name, aside from signing his letters to Rhea. Later in the campaign, Augusta (and Rhea) seems to have caught onto this, and begun calling him "Sir Appel" more often.
