Yobbo is a paladin in the Solithian army, and one of Appel’s old classmates.

Appearance & Personality

Yobbo is a tall wood elf. His haircut--a bowl cut with an undercut--is usually met with a strong reaction. His weapon of choice is a simple wooden staff.

Yobbo is deeply jaded and misanthropic. Decades of working in retail will do that to you. He is not a very animated speaker, and most of his facial expressions tend toward indifference, judgment, or disgust. He has been known to laugh when bad things happen to other people. Despite his personality, Yobbo is not much of a serious threat by himself.

Yobbo treats most everyone he meets with disinterest. He seems slightly less disinterested in Claire, a girl from the Academy’s cleric program in the year below Yobbo.

Story

Backstory

Yobbo grew up in a family loyal to Solithia and the Heart of Solis. As a child, he attended a religious school, and eventually began working in his family’s market. After almost seventy years of working in retail, Yobbo decided a career change was in order, and began training as a paladin at Her Holiness’ Academy for the Immaculate and Faithful.

Yobbo found paladin life much more fulfilling than customer service. As a student, he quickly befriended Garf and Bingus, two boys also training to become paladins. It’s not clear that Garf or Bingus truly comprehended how much older Yobbo was than them; all that is certain is that the three formed a brotherly bond rooted in harassing their classmates, like Appel.

Appelton Arc

After graduating and accepting a field assignment, Yobbo eventually became a captain of a squadron. He is currently stationed in Appelton alongside Garf, with the responsibility of capturing the Hammer Elf. Yobbo is unaware that the Hammer Elf wreaking havoc in Appelton is really Yukiko impersonating the original Hammer Elf, Blitz.

In Appelton, the party learned from Yobbo that Mira summoned several paladins to return to her side, including paladins from the Von Himmel, Bingrellstein, and Stormquell families. Garf poked fun at Yobbo for feeling miffed that he was not also summoned.

When the party left northern Solithia to attend graduation at Tower Academy, they convinced Yobbo to attend as well in an effort to set him up with Claire. As a result of this, Yobbo ended up helping the party fight off the slaad that attacked the graduation ceremony. Also, he and Claire seem to have grown closer.
