"Ms. Pretty"

"Ms. Pretty" was an unusually intelligent chicken adopted by Appel. He was later revealed to be a tiefling lawyer under the effect of a True Polymorph spell, after which he left the party.

Appearance & Personality

In his true form, Apollo is a red tiefling with two pointy horns that stick straight up from his forehead. As "Ms. Pretty", he resembled an ordinary chicken.

He has been shown to have high observational skills, as he helped the party find key evidence in their investigation of Fable's murder, even while in chicken form.

Story

Backstory

Apollo's existence was first hinted at in Session 2 when Mo mentioned that she was currently in the middle of a lawsuit, due to people being seriously injured at her bar. Sometime after getting Mo's charges dropped, his sister transformed him into a chicken as part of a magic show. He was then separated from her. While wandering around Mistport as a chicken, Apollo was found by Nex, who decided to adopt him as a new pet. Nex then took him to the kobold village near Kingsglade.

Fable's Murder

While staying at Nex's house, the party became acquainted with his new pet chicken. Appel in particular became immediately enamored with the chicken, dubbing it "Ms. Pretty", and bringing it along as the party investigated the murder of Fable the kobold.

At several points during their investigation, and ensuing trial, "Ms. Pretty" attempted to call the party's attention to pieces of evidence, helping them to prove their innocence and discover the true murderer. Due to this helpfulness, the general cuteness of the chicken, and their newfound dislike for Nex, Appel decided to adopt "Ms. Pretty" himself.

Brimbor

Still under the impression that Apollo was merely a pet chicken, the party brought him with them to explore the ruins of Brimbor. While investigating the Brimbor Laboratory forge, Blitz cast Detect Magic, leading him to finally realize "Ms. Pretty" was under a powerful transmutation spell. Blitz was then able to dispel this, shocking everyone by transforming Apollo back to his true form.

After awkwardly thanking the party, Apollo said he intended to travel back to Mistport. He presumably returned to his law practice there, although whether or not he safely escaped Brimbor was never confirmed.

Trivia

• The character of Ace Justice Apollo Attorney is a reference to Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. He originally appeared in Ix's previous DND campaign in 2019.
• The decision to bring back Apollo as a chicken was made approximately 30 minutes before the session in which he first appeared. He was not intended to be adopted by the party.
• Nex's name for chicken Apollo was Corrine, after the character in Tales of Symphonia.
